What is Udyam Registration?

Udyam registration in India or MSME registration or SSI registration is a certificate issued to small, medium and medium enterprises in India under the MSME Act, 2006. Udyam registration in India was formerly known as MSME registration.

The FSSAI acts to secure the law for food and relevant business by establishing standards for food to regulate the manufacturing of food.

The main objectives of small, medium and micro enterprises regarding Udyam registration are as follows:

  • To enable small, medium and micro enterprises to cope effectively with the problems of unemployment and poverty;
  • Extending the benefits of various government programs in one place from station to SSI units;
  • Protecting the SSI from financial abuse at the hands of big corporations.

Eligibility for Udyam registration

Who is eligible to register at Udyam in India?

Not all businesses need to get Udyam registration in India. The businesses listed below are classified as small, medium or micro enterprises depending on the investment in plants and equipment that are eligible for Udyam registration.

Who can get an FSSAI license?

All Food Business operators including existing small businesses need to obtain an FSSAI license. Depending on the size of the business, they may choose a medium, national, or basic license.

Major food producers, importers, exporters working in the big food business are required to obtain FSSAI Registration in India from the central government. While small and medium business units, freight forwarders, marketers, retailers are required to apply for a state license from the state government.

Production units have a capacity of 2 MT per day, milk units hold up to 5000 liters per day. Replications, recycling units, cakes, catering businesses regardless of the profit required to apply for a FSSAI national license in India.

All importers and exporters regardless of how much they import need to apply for a medium license. Any Food Business operator with a limit of 20 crore and who wants to operate in two or more regions needs to obtain a FSSAI intermediate license in India.

Note:
  • For the recently introduced changes a person with a basic FSSAI license can apply for a State or Central License with the same registration number, there is no need to apply for a separate one.

Documents Required for Udyam Registration

What are the required documents for the registration of Udyam in India?

  • Obtaining Udyam Registration in the event of a Proprietorship card for the applicant's Aadhar and PAN is a major requirement.
  • Similarly, in the case of a patent, the applicant Aadhar and the official PAN are required.
  • In the case of Partnership, Aadhar and PAN partner will be used.
  • In the case of a company, directors Aadhar and PAN can be used.
  • In the case of LLP, the Aadhar card and PAN card of the nominated partner will be used.
  • In the event that the applicant or authorized signer does not have the appropriate Aadhar Card, the applicant must first apply for an Aadhar card at the Aadhar registration center. Once Aadhar has been acquired the registration of Udyam can begin.
