BIS: Bureau of Indian Standards.

BIS is the National Standard Body of India established under the BIS Act 2016 for the harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of products and for matters connected therewith or incidental there to. BIS has been providing traceable and tangible benefits to the economy during a number of the way – providing safe reliable quality goods; minimizing health hazards to consumers; promoting exports and imports substitute; control over proliferation of sorts etc. through standardization, certification and testing.

Documents required for registering with BIS:

  • Acknowledgment proof of online file submission;
  • Address proof including business license, and other documents issued by the government;
  • Application signed by the CEO of the corporate , or an authority letter from the CEO;
  • Form VI and VII;
  • Registration certificate of the name , or a replica of the trademark application (if applied for), or an authorization letter from the brand owner;
  • Affidavit and undertaking for the authorized Indian representative along side identity proof of the person signing affidavit, if the manufacturer is found abroad;
  • Undertaking for test report; and
  • The test report.
